Florida in March

We traveled to Florida for the second week of my March break and had an awesome time. The weather was perfect, both of the children loved the pool and we all relaxed. An added bonus of the trip was that Erica was down in Palm Beach with Dashel so we got to spend a day with them and we also spent a day with Jen, Corbett and their kids while we were in the Sunshine State. Both Ellie and James loved seeing their NYC/NJ friends while we were on vacation. It was the perfect March getaway!

Northeastern England

We were based in Durham during the week in the UK. Durham is a university town in Northeastern England and I had never been there before. While we were there, we traveled to both York and Newcastle. It was great to explore new cities with the students from our school. We even managed to go out for a "proper tea" at Betty's in Newcastle while we were there which was "brilliant," as the Brits would say. The week went by quickly but it was an amazing exchange experience and I'm so glad I was able to go.

London

I was fortunate enough to go on an exchange through work to the UK during our first week of March Break. My friend Maureen and I took five upper school students to England and we spent the first day and a half there touring around London. It's no secret that London is one of my top favorite places ever so I was thrilled to take everyone around town. We did a lot in the short time we were there, we saw Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, rode on the London Eye, walked through St. James's Park to Buckingham Palace, went to Harrod's, had dinner at Wagamama, and visited the Tower of London. The real highlight for me was connecting with friends there. I was so happy to see my friend Ella who I used to work with in NYC and Maggie and Michael while I was there. It was a great start to a wonderful week in England.

A long, long time ago...

we went skiing with our friends at Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks. Actually, it was just last month but it seems like a long time ago since we've done a lot since that weekend trip. Ellie did an awesome job skiing and spent the day in ski school. James and Max went to the day care at the base of the mountain and did great. The masking tape on their backs in the photo above was the day care's way of knowing each child's name. I thought they looked so funny tagged like that. They also enjoyed sitting in an Adirondack chair. Fun times!

Fancy Nancy

We had book character day at school before our March Break. Ellie chose to be Fancy Nancy (no surprise there) and she looked pretty fancy. She even took her Fancy Nancy doll in as a prop. I dressed as Mrs. Clancy (Nancy's mom who is not too fancy) as I had a meeting that day and it wouldn't have been appropriate for me to be in costume. Ellie was thrilled to get to wear "clothes from the basment" (aka dress up clothes) to school. Lucky girl!

And so it begins...

James's love affair with all things sports and ball related has officially begun. He loves to point to pictures of different balls and identify what sport it belongs to. He likes to talk about sports and play with balls and on the evening that the photo above was taken he chose to take a football to bed with him. This concept is both foreign and familiar to me at the same time. While I am not passionate about sports (shocking, I know), I grew up with one of the biggest sports fanatics of all time and I married a die-hard Red Sox, college basketball and all around sports fan and golf addict. I do have my favorite teams though and my little boy is taking after his mom in this regard. When we ask him what he says about football, he enthusiastically says, "Go Bills!" It's been fun to watch his interest grow and I have a feeling it will last for his entire lifetime. We're hoping he'll love the teams we cheer for, even if they will, at times, break his little heart.

Playtime in the Basement

This post isn't very exciting but James was happy to show how much he enjoys playtime in the basement. He often asks to go down there to play with his trains and he and Ellie can entertain themselves for awhile down there. Ellie did not want to be photographed this particular afternoon but she really likes the basement too.
