The photos above are from the second day of school. I love my morning drive to school with Ellie, we chat and she is usually very talkative and full of energy. It's more entertaining than listening to NPR. It used to take me about a minute to get from my car to the building. Now Ellie has a special way she likes to walk into school and it takes a little longer. It's worth it though- it's such a joy to see her at school everyday. Ellie becomes so animated when she talks about her friends at school and the classroom activities. On the second day she told me she had two best friends, when I asked her who they were she said, "Bailey and no one else."
Ellie loves school and we couldn't be happier about it! We are fortunate that her teachers post photos and information about their activities everyday. I "borrowed" some of the photos above from the classroom website. It's really fun to have a peek into her daily routine. The photo of Ellie and Henry reading together is my personal fave.
Ellie began her school career on Wednesday, September 1st. She's in the Nursery class (also called the Oak Room) and is loving every minute of it. Ellie had a great first day - even though it was oppressively hot. It is such a treat to see her around campus and it's so special to be in the same school as her. It seems like just yesterday I was starting as a teacher there- pregnant with Ellie!
What better way to spend the last day of summer than to have a full day playdate with a classmate? Ellie was thrilled to have Polly at our house the day before school began. We're thrilled that they will be in the Oak Room together this year.
We were so excited to have the Burnses in town at the end of August. What made their visit even more special was that Meghan and Mike got engaged in Boston the night before they came to see us! It was so wonderful to see them right after the big engagement and we were happy to have an mini-celebration here on the East Coast with them. To top it all off, they asked Ellie and James to be their flower girl and ring bearer. Ellie is so excited to be a flower girl again. That Sunday I asked her if she wanted to tell our priest that she was starting school that week and she said, "No, I want to tell him the big news." When I asked what the big news was, she relplied, "I'm going to be a flower girl and James is going to be a ring bearer!"
We made our first trip to Newburyport, Massachusetts on my birthday. It's a very pretty town north of Boston right on the water. We ate by the water, walked around town and spent time on the beach. It was a really wonderful birthday.
When we returned from California and WNY, we spent a day at Henry and Zoe's house. Ellie and Henry were able to chat about starting school together and Ellie was psyched to have the chance to hold sweet Zoe. James occupied himself by putting Henry's cars in his mouth.
